BBQ / Braaing with BraaiBoy

Myself and BraaiBoy (ROI) have been talking for some time now but have never had the opportunity  to have a BBQ / Braai together. He called me last week and said that he would be coming up to Dublin and would I be around. I said most certainly as we had been talking about it for a long time. I was looking forward to finally having a Braai together.

And in true South African style we decided to have a feast . Leon AKA BraaiBoy Rep of Ireland brought some boerewors and I said that I would sort the steak ,pap and sauce and other. He had a big journey back and to be a gentleman I also opted not to have any beer or wine but we drank coke and juice . First time in a long time I think the two of us had a non alcoholic BBQ/braai .

I know a tomahawk is more trimmed off but I prefer the more meaty option so this is my version of the tomahawk  . To judge the scale of the bone and meat see the standard  herb glass container in the photo .

I did the TOMAHAWK and  lamb chops “dirty or caveman style”  and the Boerewors  and other rib eye was done on the Grate .

The plate that I gave myself and Leon Braaiboy (ROI) was 50cm (20in) wide . These were from a good mate   Fergal Donnelly  .    Because  we were having caveman / Dirty steaks I just thought it appropriate that we have caveman style big earthy plates. See the scale of the Tomahawk and plate compared to the knive and fork.braai boy Leon 018
